Charity Work

Project class 11 2001/02

During the last two weeks of the 11th class our task within our English lessons was to occupy with a project called "charity". Therefore the class was divided into five groups. Each of these groups thought about possibilities how to realize this project. Most of us got good ideas in a first brainstorming.

One group helped the first aid organization of Rheinsberg. They emptied containers filled with donated clothes, shoes or toys and arranged these utensiles in the local cloak-chamber. They were really astonished about the big demand and the big number of people taking this chance.

These photos illustrate what we have done during our project lessons. KLICK: Foto groß zeigen. Ladezeiten beachten.

We mainly collected and emptied clothes out of the special containers you can find everywhere in Rheinsberg. KLICK: Foto groß zeigen. Ladezeiten beachten.

Worth mentioning is that the people who use the offer of the clothes chamber are unemployed. KLICK: Foto groß zeigen. Ladezeiten beachten.

So they don't have to pay for anything. KLICK: Foto groß zeigen. Ladezeiten beachten.

We worked in a group of four:
  • Cathleen Halbeck
  • Kathleen Bellin
  • Maria Plötz
  • Katharina Plaasch

Other groups worked with elderly people. In general they took them for a walk in their wheelchabs. While walking they got into contact and talked about different things. But it was hard work because most of the pensioners were slightly disabled. They suffered from a lack of hearing or were dumb.

Finally there were groups who became active for the benefit of our school. They sold cake and donated the earned money to the Heinrich-Rau-Comprehensive. A further activity aimed at brightening up the entrance area of our school. So there could be collected plants and flowers to be planted in this part.

Our group decided to plant some flowers into the buckets of the entry area of our school.
The plants we asked for in several flower shops. The shop-assistents were very kind and donated the flowers.
Even the grandmothers of us supported our work

In one of the last English lessons the pupils presented their results. Some gave a paper, others a report and one group showed a self-made video about their work. All in all the teenagers wanted to make the public aware that today's young people are able to do something useful.
